General Instructions
As with any piece of fine furniture, regular dusting is recommended as
the primary component of your cleaning program. This can be done with an
ordinary soft, clean cloth, specially treated anti-static dusting cloths
and dusting mitts, cylindrical dust brushes especially designed for blinds
or by light vacuuming with a dusting brush attachment.
Product Specific Recommendations
- Faux Wood Blinds or Shutters
- These products can be washed with warm soapy water and mild
cleansers. Vim has been found to be particularly effective at times.
-
Honeycomb or Cellular Shades
- Wash with a solution of mild non-abrasive soap (Woolite or Ivory) in
lukewarm water. Soak, rinse and squeeze dry.
The headrail and bottom rail can be immersed - they are aluminum and
will not rust.
Wood Blinds and Shutters
- Because your new blind is made of natural wood products, washing the
blind or using strong cleansing agents on the wood surfaces is not
recommended. We do not recommend ultrasonic cleaning for real wood
blinds and shutters.
The surface of the slats and louvers is smooth and dust is easily
brushed off, when done at regular intervals.
For more seriously soiled surfaces, wipe with a clean damp cloth on
painted surfaces and furniture polish on wood stain finishes.
