Frequently Asked Questions

This page will grow and evolve in direct response to your questions. • What is basswood?

We use ecologically friendly non-rainforest Basswood exclusively. Basswood is the premier wood for the manufacture of high quality wood window blinds. It is light weight, dimensionally stable and takes a finish beautifully. It is very similar in appearance to maple. These links will tell you more:

  • I'm considering putting wood blinds in by kitchen.  Do you recommend this?  I'm wondering if there is too much moisture in the kitchen and will it damage the blinds.

Normal kitchen moisture is not a problem. Wood blinds work well in kitchens and bathrooms, both of which are often quite high in humidity. The only time you would encounter any problem is when the blinds are actually going to be getting wet, like immediately above a bathtub where they would be exposed to water splashing from a shower. In such circumstances, our faux wood blinds are a better choice. Our faux wood blinds stand up well even in shower areas where they can be splashed with water.
